Description
This American “unblended” Whiskey—more on that later—is soft, sweet, and a delight to sip on or mix in classic cocktails. The secret to its’ softness and roundness? It’s matured in ex-Bourbon casks, which lend additional notes of caramel and vanilla to the final product. Of course Bourbon legally needs to be aged in 100% First-Fill American Oak—so this can’t be Bourbon—but when seeking a classification within the TTB that they could sell their whiskey under Michter’s discovered the “Unblended” category; which doesn’t have the stipulation on first-fill oak, but does certify that it’s not mixed with neutral grain alcohol like vodka. So that’s nice.
